The GC/CM project scope includes redevelopment and re-purposing of existing buildings and construction of new buildings at both dam sites. Concurrent to the work being performed by Lydig, CCPUD began a separate project to modernize hydroelectric dam generators, turbines, and spill gates at the hydroelectric powerhouses. Both dams are considered essential facilities and therefore must always remain in operation. To mitigate impact and minimize lost revenue from prolonged loss of hydroelectric generation, all GC/CM work being performed has undergone intense coordination with the separate, ongoing, large-scale hydroelectric dam operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects.
ROCK ISLAND DAM
The work at Rock Island included constructing new facilities for fabrication, machine shop, sandblast and paint, engineering and operations offices, and a crew building. Additionally, the project scope included refurbishing 12 existing support and maintenance buildings throughout Rock Island Dam.
ROCKY REACH DAM
The work at Rocky Reach includes construction of three new facilities and refurbishment of five existing buildings. The new facilities consist of a large warehouse, engineering and operations office, tool shop, machine shop, fabrication shop and a fuel island. Along with the new building construction, the project scope also includes refurbishment of the warehouse space, dive shop, wire shop, parts storage room, paint/blast building, and hazardous material storage.
